James Dixon & Sons Antique Silver Plated Claret Jug
An antique silver plated claret jug. Classic shape with a pedestal base, long bulbous body and long wide pouring lip. Lid automatically opens when tilted. Profusely decorated all over with relief work of faces animals and leaves. Figure of a lady on handle and a man’s face below the pouring lip. c.1880 British made with a makers mark for James Dixon & Sons stamped underneath. This is sold in original plate.
This has been registered with Government U.K. as made before 3 March 1947 with less than 10% ivory. The claret jug has small ivory insulators on the handle. Exemption certificate submission reference: CMN88A26
